ILRCSF is hosting a focus group seeking people who use power wheelchairs and those who use manual wheelchairs. WHILL, which is a technology company based in Japan, will be visiting our agency to beta test WHILL Type-A, a four-wheel-drive hi-tech mobility device for people who use wheelchairs. WHILL is seeking technical assistance from people with disabilities to evaluate and provide feedback on WHILL Type-A.

Unlike other mobility devices that force users to sit in an inactive posture (like sitting on a couch), WHILL Type-A lets you lean in to the product (like riding a bicycle). WHILL Type-A can rotate on the spot and the wheels are big enough to avoid getting stuck on a crack and to clear bumps or curbs up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) high. WHILL Type-A is a four-wheel-drive vehicle and the radius of the front all-around wheels is 9.8 inches.

This event will take place on Thursday, Dec 5, 2013 11:00pm-12:30pm at our offices, located at 649 Mission Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105.

ILRCSF is wheelchair accessible and provides reasonable accommodations upon advanced request. In order to be fully accessible to all people with disabilities, ours is a scent-free office When visiting ILRCSF, please do not wear any scented products, including perfumes, aftershave, hairspray, etc.”
