Please join San Francisco Veterans Lions Club, Veterans for Peace Chapter 69, Robert Basker Post 315 of the American Legion,Team AMVETS, Veteran Artists, the San Francisco Art Community, and many more organizations, for the 3rd Annual Take Back the Night, Healing Arts Festival, as we sing, perform poetry and story-telling, dance and display art to “empower and honor” those who have gone through military and domestic sexual trauma, sexual assault and rape. We gather to raise awareness about sexual violence, to support the survivors in their healing process, and to honor those who are thriving.
There will be both military veteran and non-veteran artists, from the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, you will enjoy holistic activities throughout the day, as well as informational booths.
Lastly, a Take Back the Night walk from Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at 8:30ish pm, ending at the Ocean Beach in a spiral candle-light vigil honoring those who have lost their lives and those who have survived. Keynote Speaker information will be added as the event gets closer. A $1.50 donation is suggested for each candle. This event is a sacred space. There will also be t-shirts, bracelets, and whistles for sale too.
People of all ages, races, religions, genders, and backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to attend this FREE event. Light refreshments will be served. United, we can stop the violence! This is a Clean and Sober, Hate Free Event!
Proceeds from this event will be donated to women veteran organizations. The proceeds for the silent auction will be donated to the Girl State program.
