Are you the parent or guardian of a child with a disability? Do you want to better understand how to advocate for your child in the school system?

Join us for a virtual workshop led by Tara VanTimmeren, an experienced educator and parent who has spent over a decade navigating the school system for students with disabilities. This workshop will offer an overview of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and answer your questions to help set your child up for success.

In this workshop, we’ll cover:

What is an IEP?
Who qualifies for an IEP and how is it different from a 504 plan?
What is the “least restrictive environment” and why does it matter?
How do I request an IEP or 504 plan assessment?
What should I expect at an IEP meeting?
What are my rights if I disagree with the IEP?

You’ll walk away with:

Tools to better support your child at school
Knowledge of your rights and responsibilities
Clear next steps if you need to request services or assessments

Future sessions will explore these topics in greater detail based on your questions and interests.

Let’s work together to make sure every student gets the support they deserve.
