The story of the American League in 2014 is that the best team is still to be determined. After only two weeks of baseball, it’s way too early in the season for predictions. But it sure does feel good to be able to say that Oakland is currently leading the AL West.
The A’s are 8-4. They’ve won six of their last seven. Their team ERA is an absurd 2.17. Now, there’s no way Oakland can keep that pace up like this, particularly beginning the week in LA against the surging Angels. It’s when Oakland comes home this weekend for a three-game series against the struggling Astros that the fun will begin. The Astros are still the Astros. They’re a couple of years away from being real contenders in the AL West. In another division, they might have ended up in 4th place, maybe even 3rd in some, but unfortunately for Houston fans, their team is arguably in the hardest division in baseball, if not one of the best.
Expectations are running high for the 2014 Oakland A’s. After two straight AL West championships, the A’s are favored by many to get back to the post-season. And this three-game series against the Houston Astros should definitely help get them there.
Don’t like sitting in the sun? That’s alright; we’ve got opportunities to enjoy a cool, comfortable spring-time evening game under the stars.
Don’t like staying out late? That’s ok, too; we’ve got opportunities to enjoy a mid-day game that still gets you home before dark. (from CATS)
