BART Fleet of the Future New Train Car Model
Invitation to Special Event for People With Disabilities:

BART invites you to tour a model of its new train car, and provide
feedback. The model, which is a life-sized replica of approximately half of
a train car, will make 10 appearances throughout the Bay Area in April and
May. Please refer to the flyer for the schedule of events (pdf and Word
versions are attached) . All the events will be accessible. Please
distribute this information to your members.
In addition to the events listed on the flyer, BART will hold a special
event for passengers with disabilities. The special event will be held at
the North Berkeley BART station on Tuesday, April 29.
There are two ways to participate in the special event at North Berkeley:
1. sign up for a one-on-one interview with BART staff (time slots
available between noon and 2 p.m. – train car model will be closed to
the general public at this time), or
2. drop-in between 2 and 4 p.m.
More details, including how to sign up for the interviews, are below:
Option 1: Interviews – noon to 2 pm – Advance sign-up is required
· People who sign up to participate in the Interview segment of the
event will tour the train car model with a BART staff person. The
staff person will ask you to get on and off the model a couple of
times, and ask for your comments about the new train car.
· After your tour, you also will be invited to complete a survey and
participate in a brief group discussion about the new train car.
Refreshments will be available.
· Advance sign-up is required. Sessions begin at noon, 12:45 p.m., and
1:30 p.m. We will have up to 6 participants in each of these three
time slots, for a total of 18 interview participants in all. Plan to
stay for approximately 45 minutes. Please note that some waiting will
be involved as the onboard interviews will be conducted one at a
time.
· As the interviews may be video and/or audio recorded, you will be
asked to sign a release form at the event.
· Interested in signing up for an interview? Please send an email to
SignUp@bart.gov or call 1-877-879-2278 and leave a message. Please
leave your name and contact information, as well as your preferred
interview time (noon, 12:45 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.). BART will get back
to you within a few days to let you know if space is available.
Option 2: Drop-in – 2 pm – 4pm
· If you would prefer to tour the train car model on your own, please
drop in between 2 and 4 p.m. While the model will be open to the
general public at this time, BART will have additional staff
available to assist persons with disabilities. Survey forms will be
available for your comments, and refreshments will be available.
· Advance sign up is not required for Option 2.
Attendees may request an ASL interpreter (or an interpreter for any other
language) for any of these events by calling (510) 464-6752 at least 72
hours prior to the event. Braille materials will also be available.
If you have any questions, please send an email to SignUp@bart.gov. Thank
you.
