ILRCSF officially declares July 26th, 2011

ILRCSF is setting forth a challenge to our friends, colleagues, family members, and people we have never met: to devote their blog entries, Twitter streams, Facebook walls, text messages, emails, or Youtube uploads on July 26th, 2011 to Disability Access.

Write, Tweet, devote your Facebook status, send a text message or email, or post videos about cool assistive technology, your frustration with public transportation, curb cuts, how awesome the staff is about accommodating your needs at your favorite restaurant....whatever comes to mind regarding this topic. All we ask is that you devote something you do on the internet or on your cell phone on this one day - the 21st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act - to DISABILITY ACCESS.

But I don't even HAVE a Blog!

Do not let the fact that you don't have a blog stop you from participating: we welcome all efforts to participate in Blog For Access. If you don't have a blog or use Twitter or Facebook or Youtube you can:

  • Write an email about disability access and blast it out
  • Send a text message about disability access
  • Make your email signature a message about disability access for 24 hours
  • Post photos that address disability access on your Flickr or other photo sharing site
  • Be creative: if you have Internet access or a cellphone, you can participate

To take part in Blog For Access all you have to do is send us an email with the words "blog for access" in the subject field. Include the name of your blog or other account or activity online, and the URL you'd like us to link, and we'll add you to the growing list of Blog For Access participants. If you don't have a blog or other site you want to link to - that's fine...just let us know you're participating. That's it. You do not have to have a disability in order to participate. Send us an email, pledge to blog or Tweet or email or post a video or DO SOMETHING about disability access on July 26th, 2011, and you're part of a worldwide movement to get people talking about accessibility.
